Debbie Carroll -2015 Recipient of the Ed McKinlay Poultry Worker of the Year Award
The Poultry Industry Council (P.I.C.) is pleased to announce that Debbie Carroll, who acted as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Ontario Hatcheries Association from 1985 until her retirement in April 2015 is the recipient of the Ed McKinlay Poultry Worker of the Year award. The award is presented yearly to outstanding individuals in the poultry industry, and was presented to Debbie at the Innovations Conference Banquet on November 18, 2016, in London, Ontario.
Ed Verkley, Chair of P.I.C. stated, “Debbie was instrumental to the operation of the Ontario Hatcheries Association and she coordinated events such as their Convention, Baseball Tournament, Curling Bonspiel, and Golf tournament which brought the entire industry together. She is very deserving of this award.”
Debbie focussed her attention on providing assistance to the hatcheries by providing educational workshops, labour and property tax legislation advice, biosecurity protocols and served as a conduit to share information on issues impacting the sector.
“Debbie Carroll provided a high level of professionalism, personal integrity and commitment to the industry over her thirty years, and that is why we nominated Debbie for this award” stated Bob Guy, General Manager of the Ontario Broiler Hatching Egg and Chick Commission.
