The Poultry Industry Council is a charitable foundation with a mandate to encourage and finance research and education for the benefit of the Canadian poultry industry. The Council is particularly interested in attracting scientists into applied or near-market research, that involves immediate commercial application. The Council will provide grants in aid as seed money. The object is to provide tangible evidence of industry support to other granting agencies so that scientists may attract matching funds. The Council may also "top up" existing finances, in order to expand a project to permit its completion where failure to fund would cause a significant delay.
