About the Poultry Industry Council

The Poultry Industry Council (PIC) is a registered, Canadian charity that was formed in 1997 as a result of a merger between the Ontario Poultry Council and the Poultry Industry Centre. The activities of PIC are made possible through the efforts of a twelve-person volunteer Board representing both producers and the poultry industry, along with 3 full-time staff members.

The Poultry Industry Council works to stay current on innovative research, resources, training, and learning opportunities to ensure the poultry sector is staying ahead of the curve.  The board members and staff work collaboratively with the industry to build a new strategic direction and business plan.  This way PIC’s primary activities are targeted specifically to industry and producer needs.

Each year we bring together producers, industry, veterinarians, and academia to a range of workshops and events.  Our National Poultry Show, hosted each year now in February, is a 65-year tradition that celebrates and showcases all the best the industry has to offer.

PIC’s next Annual General Meeting will be held as a Hybrid event, In-person Elora and via webinar on October 26, 2023.
