SUMMER CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

JOB TITLE:       Monogastric Operations Farm Support- Summer Opportunity           

DIVISION:        Corporate

REPORTS TO:   Monogastric Unit Supervisor           

LOCATION:      Burford, Ontario

JOB PROFILE: 

Reporting to the Monogastric Unit Supervisor, the Monogastric Operation Farm Support will be involved in all aspects of a swine & poultry research facility. Standard Operating Procedures are followed for all tasks and on the job S.O.P training is provided.   The Monogastric Operation Farm Support is expected to conduct all matters in a manner consistent with Nutreco’s Corporate Values of Innovation, Caring, Capable, and Collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Involved in Monogastric areas of the farm including swine, and poultry;
  • Routine farm chores including feeding, barn cleaning, stone picking;
  • Assist in facility maintenance (general construction, painting, grass cutting, etc) and cleanliness;
  • Involvement in animal health and treatment administration;
  • Assist in the completion of research trials;
  • Alternating weekends in the dairy barn;
  • May assist in other areas of farm as needed

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

  • Degree or diploma in Agriculture or related field in progress;
  • Previous poultry or swine production experience considered an asset;
  • Some computer skills;
  • Ability to work 49 hours per week & every other weekend;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Standard Operating Procedures are followed for all tasks and on the job S.O.P training is provided.   The Crops Operation Farm Support is expected to conduct all matters in a manner consistent with Nutreco’s Corporate Values of Innovation, Caring, Capable, and Collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Involved in Crops operations of the farm;
  • Routine farm chores including planting, harvesting, machinery maintenance;
  • Assist in facility maintenance (general construction, painting, grass cutting, etc) and cleanliness;
  • Assist in the completion of research trials;
  • May assist in other areas of farm as needed.

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

  • Degree or diploma in Agriculture or related field in progress;
  • Previous field crop experience considered;
  • Strong mechanical abilities;
  • Ability to operate farm machinery, such as tractors, etc.;
  • Some computer skills;
  • Ability to work overtime as the job requires;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
